Title: The Hands of God
Medium: Linocut Print
Date: January and February 2016
Size: 4″x5″
So here’s the 2nd print out of the series, this one I have the most issues with, and the final version will differ the most out of all of the prints I’ve done so far. The background will be large enough in the bigger one for me to create a solar system and a galaxy with swirls and whatnot, but unfortunately, my smallest blade cannot make grooves that small and cut deep enough for them to show.
So, this is the Hands of God, the concept behind it is that life brings balance to the universe, it’s like the heavy focal point that brings the rest of the composition into perspective, despite it all being fairly empty, the large emptiness counter balances the little life here and there.
At the same time, it represents human transcendence and how it relates to nature and spirituality. I don’t wanna bore you with the details (I haven’t articulated them in a way I like yet anyways
)
Anyhow, it’s a moose skull holding the solar system in place, with reality dripping off the bottom of the piece.
