Title: The Energy Hawk Anima

So, for this week, in celebration of Pokemon’s 20th anniversary, I wanted to continue working on Project Anima, which was essentially a tribute to Pokemon, and an effort to move within the same genre in a different direction. It was originally concepted as a happy tribute to my memories of the change from Generation 1 to Generation 2, and where I had hoped Pokemon would move to in the coming generations after. I grew up when Digimon, Pokemon, and Monster Rancher all had equal footing, and I expected Pokemon to take more from its rivals, instead of completely outpacing them and never having to add or improve much passed the first few generations (Generation 2 had some of the largest improvements to the game, followed by the most recent Generation of X and Y)
So, here’s the first of the week’s drawings, a maturation chain for an energy hawk anima, it matures into one of two forms, an Anima capable of converting its energy temporarily into an unstable, pure lightning state (Which is currently called the Thunderbird form), it can also call forth thunderstorms in its wake, and the other, an Anima of pure energy that can manipulate its physical state, (Currently called the Spirit Hawk form), while also being capable of manipulating the magical energy that flows through the Forest environment.
These Anima are an Apex predator of the Forest Environment, using their powerful lightning and/or arcane abilities and large talons to swoop on rodent and insect Anima and prey upon them. The Thunderbird form uses its incredible speed and ability to ‘strike’ the ground as a bolt of lightning to quickly divebomb its prey, whereas The Spirit Hawk form uses its ability to phase in and out of physical form to ignore the underbrush and trees and easily hunt for prey without anything impeding its movements.
